Bullpen does matter

In the MLB, There is one thing that few teams seem to have.....A good Bullpen.
I think there is a few teams that have a good bullpen. The Red Sox get the save 80% of the time, so you can tell there is a bullpen there. The Blue Jays have a decent bullpen as well. The main reason that i think the Detroit Tigers are not doing as good as they are led up to be is that they dont have a good bullpen to go to.

Our baseball is missing good relievers, we need to get more good relieving in baseball and not let our starters and offense do all of the work

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Jonathan Papelbon pumps his fist after getting Cleveland Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner to fly out in the ninth inning of a baseball game on Monday, April 14, 2008. Boston won 6-4.

With the exception of Okijima and Papelbon, the Sox bullpen sucks dude. Three weeks into the season, they're ranked 20th in the majors with an era of 4.78, while the Yankees are ranked 8th with an era of 3.48. The top 3 in the majors right now are:

Kansas City - 2.50
St. Louis - 2.74
Florida - 3.24

Worst 3:

Cleveland - 5.66
LA Angels - 5.67
Seattle - 6.45

BTW, you might already know this, but ESPN has one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date stat tracking systems that I've found on the 'Net. You can sort stats by just about anything and it goes back a few years too.

For those bullpen stats, I sorted all 2008 teams (pitching) by the 'as reliever' drop-down.

I'd really like to argue with Cavutto, but he's kinda right, especially in regards to Lopez and Tavarez! Man those guys can blow a game...but ya know, at least we don't have the EXACT same team as last year but with double the payroll.
