Tigers pull of an outstanding Series Clencher over the Cardinals

Man! The series of the Tigers and the Cardinals this week could only be described as one word. AMAZING!

Game 1

The first game was all cardinals. Production from Brendan Ryan, Brian Barton who hit a homerun , and Skip Schumaker who all drove in 2 runs apiece...not to mention Rbi's from Nick Stavinoha (1rbi) and Adam Kennedy(1rbi).

Now on the Tigers Production, Gary Sheffield was the main man knocking in two rbi's, he also hit a homerun in the game. Miguel Cabrera who knocked in a single Rbi off a solo homer. Ivan Rodriguez also got a single Rbi off a solo homerun.

The Final Score of the game was 8-4 with the Cardinals taking the victory.

Game 2

Now in the second game, things got a little more interesting, the bats got swinging on both sides.

In the top of the first inning Skip Schumaker and Rick Ankiel both Hit solo homers making the score 2-0

In the Bottom of the second inning Edgar Renteria singled and Adam Kennedy allowed Gary Sheffield to score, Then Granderson singled which brought home Renteria. After that the score was tied 2-2

In the top of the third, Rick Ankiel hit a sacrafice fly which allowed Skip Schumaker to tag up and score. The score was 3-2 after this.

In the top of the fourth, Nick Stavinoha grounded to third, however, Yadier Molina Scored on the play. The score was 4-2 with the cardinals winning after that.

In the bottom of the fourth Placido Palanco and Curtis Granderson were brought home by a homer which was knocked off the bat of Carlos Guillen. The scored was now 5-4 with the Tigers leading.

In the top of the fifth, Rick Ankiel Hit his second homerun of the game to tie the score at
5-5.

In the top of the seventh the bases were loaded and Yadier Molina took a walk, which forced home a run. The Scored was now 6-5 with the Cardinals winning.

in the bottom of the seventh, Edgar Renteria Grounded into a double play, however, Miguel Cabrera Came home, which knotted the score once again, 6-6.

In the top of the eighth Aaron Miles singled which scored Brendan Ryan. This broke the tie yet again. 7-6 with the cardinals on top.

In the Bottom of the eight, Magglio Ordonez singled which scored Placido Palanco. The score was tied again. 7-7

In the bottom of the ninth Gary sheffield singled, which scored the go ahead run
(Clete Thomas).

Game 3

In this game, there was more pitching than offense. Nate Robertson and Todd Wellemeyer Had a pitchers duel going for most of the game. One by one that batters were sent down. Very few runs were scored.

In the bottom of the sixth, the bases were loaded and Clete Thomas was walked, which scored Curtis Granderson. The Tiger took the late lead 1-0.

In the Top of the seventh Aaron Miles Doubled which scored Brendan ryan. the score was even again at 1-1

In the Top of the Ninth Albert Pujols singled and scored skip schumaker causing the cardinals to take the lead 2-1.

In the Bottom of the Ninth, Gary Sheffield once again proved his dominance by homering to left and tying the game. 2-2.

In the Bottom of the Tenth, a walk-off walk took place, as Clete Thomas was once again walked, and once again Curtis Granderson scored. The Tigers won 3-2 and took the series 2-1.

Now i dont like the tigers as much as the cardinals, but they definately deserve some recognition.

Celtics win the NBA FINALS!!!!!

On Tuesday, June 17th 2008. The Celtics Made History. They captured their 16th NBA FINAL Championship. Pierce, Allen, and Garnett also made history. They became the third "Big Three" to win a championship in the same year that they first became a team. And all big three were in boston too.
Boston Celtics' Kevin Garnett, left, Ray Allen, center, and ...
The final score of the game was 131-92 with boston winning with a huge lead. Paul Pierce was named the MVP and he deserved it because he played hard from the beginning of the Post Season all the way to the end.....heck, he played hard since the beginning of the season.
REFILE - CORRECTING TYPE OF TROPHY

The Celebration was crazy......So many records were broken and i think some lakers fans hearts were broken as well. Soo much champaign was being sprayed, you couldnt even walk to feet in boston without getting soaked in a champaign bath.

Chipper Jones: hit king

Right Now chipper jones is at the top of his game.

Avg     HR   RBI      H     AB       G         R
.409    15      42    94     230      62      44

Chipper Jones Leads the League in the following:

First in Average
First In Hits
Seventeenth in Runs Scored
Second in Slugging percentage

This year, i think that Chipper jones is in contention for The 3B national league silver slugger and the National League MVP.

Not only Does Chipper have a good bat, but an awesome glove too. He makes diving catches and gets down and dirty.

Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones, seen here in action in May 2008, said he was ready to play Saturday, one day after injuring his left eye in a bizarre batting-practice accident.

ELIJAH DUKES...hitting the scene

Elijah Dukes made his debut last season with the Tampa Bay Rays. He hit a .190 avg
10 HR's, and 21 Rbi's. It wasn't a too impressive season, but i say the home run count was pretty ok.
Elijah Dukes - Washington Nationals
On June 5th, 2008 it was 9 to 8 with the cardinals up. Christian Guzman was on base and Elijah Dukes came up...it was a hard battle between him in the pitcher. I mean it was a full count with extra pitches being thrown. Then the final pitch was thrown, and Dukes got a hold of it and it was gone, Outta the park, SEE YA!!!!! He won the game for the nationals by hitting that homerun, and it was his first homerun as a Washington National, so that homerun was double the cool.

Nationals fall to the Disabled list

In the past few years, the Nationals Legacy has began in a slow, painful way. Through the past few seasons, the Nationals have just been.....as you say rebuilding their team. Many hurts have struck their chances of winning the world series or even going to the playoffs for that matter. If its not Christian Guzman suffering a season ending injury, its the entire starting lineup suffering injuries one by one.

Washington Nationals

I thought this year was going to be different. It was going to be the year where no major players were out on the DL.....BOY was i wrong.

All of the following are injured:

Ryan Zimmerman
Austin Kearns
Nick Johnson
Paul Lo Duca
Johnny Estrada
Chad Cordero
Ryan Wagner

All of these players are quite valuable to their team in one way or another.
Right now Christian Guzman, Dmitri Young, Elijah Dukes, and Willie Mo Pena are the ones who have to take over the team as of right now. Sure they are impressive but the Nationals as of right now are missing alot of their good franchise worthy players.

Hopefully the nationals can stay healthy once these injuries clear up.

RYAN LUDWIK

Ryan Ludwik has been on a huge tear this season. He leads the cardinals in a bunch of their hitting attributes. I can see him having season highs this season in home runs, RBI's and Runs scoredSt. Louis Cardinals' Ryan Ludwick watches his RBI double in the sixth inning of a baseball game against the San Diego Padres Monday, May 19, 2008 in San Diego.

Nationals Finally start.....winning

The Washington Nationals have been on a slump lately. They seemed to have got off it because, the four game that i watched in the past two weeks, theyve seem to win. Their latest victory was over the what i think is the best rated pitching

Starters carry a burden.

Today in baseball, there are some men who play starter, who may not look like they are keeping up with others around them. Maybe the let up a bunch of runs in just the first few innings. Many people just say "oh it is just their fielding, the pitcher is fine". In some cases that may be true, but you cant just rely on their fielding. I mean sure the fielders have a heavy burden too, but your pitcher shouldnt be letting up 15 hits a game either. What i think is one of the main issues is that some starters dont have enough stamina, and they only pitch 4 or 5 innings, and yet they have long relievers who have pitched 7 innings, because the starters didnt feel like pitching their best. Some starters just need to give up the starting role to those who are actually going to give it  their all. Before John Maine became a starter, he was a long reliever. Willy Randolf of the mets saw he had potential, and started him in his first game, and we now know John Maine today as one of the most Underrated starters in the League today. Hopefully this will continue in the future.

How many times has Barry Zito got ROCKED???

well, lets see how many time barry zito has got rocked this season....wait, i can show you his faciall expressions and everything.

Jim Edmonds...Legacy of Center Field

Jim Edmonds. Only a few words can describe the way he plays baseball. One of those words is phenomenal.

In his career with the angels, he did phenomenal fielding. With the St. Louis Cardinals, he learned to put more power behind his swing, and still kept being phenomenal at his position. Now with the San Diego Padres, he isnt doing as well in the batting area with them as he did with the cardinals, however, he is still The ultimate Center Field, diving to get balls and Assisting infielders by playing outstanding outfielding.

Jim Edmonds is a future Hall Of Famer, and i consider him to be The Best CENTER FIELDER in the entire game (fielding wise, not so much as hitting)

15.....this number, i expect will be retired by none other than the ST. Louis Cardinals. He wil be remembered with the Names of Ozzie Smith, Stan "the Man" Musial, and many more outstanding baseball Players from their pasttime.

Jim Edmonds, Thank you for so much amazing memories.....and for robbing the phillies, astros, and Cubs of sooo many home runs.

Torri Hunter..King of the Angels

Torii Hunter has been on a phenomenal drive, He has been hitting. He has been fielding. And he has been doing good baserunning. If he continues on this streak he might have season highs in most of his categories.

although he hasnt been hitting homeruns as he did a couple of weeks ago. He continues to keep a good constant average.

I look at Torii Hunter, and see The qualities of Jim Edmonds.

Good Job Torii.

Los Angeles Angels' Torii Hunter (48) at bat in the seventh inning during their MLB baseball game against the Seattle Mariners, Friday, April 18, 2008 in Anaheim, Calif. Hunter's car was rear-ended at a stop light near the ballpark before the game. No one in either vehicle was seriously injured.

The Penguins Sweep the Senators

In yesterday's news,  The Penguins Completely dominated the series and swept the Senators. The senators were obviously no match for the penguins getting swept the whole series. The senators i guess, were just not ready.
Pittsburgh Penguins' Hal Gill, right, congratulates goalie Marc-Andre Fleury following their 3-1 win to sweep the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs in Ottawa on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.

Power or Contact?

There has been some fuss going on about whether power hitters or Contact hitters are better. I thought and thought about it until i couldnt think anymore, in which i didnt come up with an answer. So i did some reasearch.

I found that Contact Hitters usually have high averages, high on base percentage, Less strikeouts than power hitters, Less Walks than Power Hitters, Not a lot of homeruns, a decent amount of Rbi's, and they are usually fast. Power Hitters dont have an average as high as contact hitters but still have a decent average, more homeruns and Rbi's than Contact Hitters, More Strikeouts and Walks than Contact Hitters, and A Higher Average with Runners in scoring position.

I then came upon the answer that You have to have both to be good. Just look, every team has at least one contact hitter and one power hitter if not more. Blue Jays, Cardinals, New York, etc. all have Multiple of these players.

You Might even be lucky enough to have a player who is both a power and contact hitter. Take Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals. He has all of the traits that you need to be a contact hitter, and a power hitter.

Bullpen does matter

In the MLB, There is one thing that few teams seem to have.....A good Bullpen.
I think there is a few teams that have a good bullpen. The Red Sox get the save 80% of the time, so you can tell there is a bullpen there. The Blue Jays have a decent bullpen as well. The main reason that i think the Detroit Tigers are not doing as good as they are led up to be is that they dont have a good bullpen to go to.

Our baseball is missing good relievers, we need to get more good relieving in baseball and not let our starters and offense do all of the work

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Jonathan Papelbon pumps his fist after getting Cleveland Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner to fly out in the ninth inning of a baseball game on Monday, April 14, 2008. Boston won 6-4.

Prince Fielder in a slump

Prince Fielder is currently in a slump. He has a .222 average,  7 rbi's, and 0 Homeruns. To get off his slump he needs to settle down in the plate like he did last year. When he settles you can see what he is capable of. Hopefully he gets back to the Prince Fielder that we all know.
San Francisco Giants' Ray Durham shares a laugh with Milwaukee Brewers' Prince Fielder, after a double play during the eighth inning of the baseball game, Saturday April 5, 2008 in Milwaukee. Ryan Braun was out at first. The Brewers won 5-4.

Baltimore holds out and manages to beat Toronto

In yesterdays game, a game took place in the beautiful park at baltimore. Baltimore Orioles took on the Toronto Blue Jays. Through Nine Innings the final score was 4-3 with The Orioles taking the win. Kevin Millar led the Orioles to the Win with 3 Rbis on the night. If you can get a win over the Blue Jays (from what i saw this year) that is a good accomplishment.

Chicago White Sox Destroy the Tigers.

In yesterdays game, The Detroit tigers were attempting to win their third game of their what is looking like a horrible season. But they did just the opposite. The White Sox Erupted Scoring 11 runs in 9 innings, and Didnt even let up a run. In one word to describe this game, it would have to be destroyed.

Chicago White Sox's Paul Konerko celebrates with teammates after hitting a grand slam against Detroit Tigers during the third inning of a baseball game on Sunday, April 13, 2008, in Chicago.

Minnesota Timberwolves barely edge out victory.

Today an epic game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Orlando Magic Took Place in Orlando, Florida. In the Game the Timberwolves were once Trailing by 18 points. It was in the final Quarter that Minnesota came back and won by a single point.

Randy Foye was one of the many superstars who helped in the comeback, but the special thing about Foye was that he was the one who got 4 basket in a row (8 points) to start the Timberwolves on their comeback.

Since Ricky Davis left the Timberwolves a few months back, Randy Foye has had to step up and be a team leader. I personally think he has done a good job.
